On November 8th 2024, we hosted the second edition of Ostrakon Project, titled “Majestic Scavengers”, which was dedicated to saving the Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus). The aim of this project was to raise public awareness of this critical environmental issue and raise much-needed funds for Bird Life Cyprus, an environmental NGO at the forefront of efforts to protect and conserve Cyprus’ wild birds, including the rescue of the Griffon Vulture.
As a company dedicated to fostering a healthier environment, we are excited to announce the ‘Ostrakon Project’ fundraising event on November 8th, 2024, at TEPAK University in Paphos.
This initiative aims to raise crucial funds for Bird Life NGO, whose primary mission is to protect the endangered Griffon Vultures of Cyprus. Their mission is to protect the wild birds of Cyprus, their habitats, and wider biodiversity, through monitoring, conservation and education actions, and by developing people’s appreciation of nature.
This year’s Ostrakon Project, themed “Majestic Scavengers,” focuses on the conservation of the Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus), a species that has faced significant decline due to the illegal use of poisoned baits and incidents of electrocution and collisions with the electricity grid. As the only vulture species residing in Cyprus, the Griffon Vulture’s population is currently alarmingly low, with only about 38 individuals remaining, making Cyprus home to the smallest vulture population in Europe.
Your support and participation will contribute to a brighter and more sustainable future for these magnificent creatures, ensuring that they continue to grace our skies for generations to come.
Thank you for being a part of our journey towards a greener and kinder world.
